“Growing Up Milwaukee” documentary series

directed and produced by Wardlaw Productions

Behind every statistic is a story. The three-part documentary series will capture the stories of three inner city youth growing up in Milwaukee who struggles with the daily dilemma of growing up Black and avoiding becoming just another statistic.

It’s imperative that we come together as a community through film to tackle the issues, which are devastating our communities: increase in violence, poor education among black students and high incarceration rates. The creation of a film is at a great need of urgency and is socially relevant right now to get to the root cause of problems with our youth.

Why Should We Film Now?

Wardlaw Productions will produce a three-part, three hour documentary. Through an observational and interactive approach, we will capture the challenges and struggles of at least three inner city youth between the ages of 13 to 17. The lenses of our cameras will serve as the eyes of the inner city youth to give audiences a firsthand account of what it means to grow up in Milwaukee.

Who Will Capture the Story?

Wardlaw Productions will direct and produce the three-part documentary series, teaming up with a local production team to help capture the genuine emotion of the youth in the city and provide hope through the lens.
