Friends of the Fine Arts Quartet

The Fine Arts Quartet,“one of the gold-plated names in chamber music" (Washington Post), ranks among the most distinguished ensembles in chamber music today The Fine Arts Quartet, has considered Milwaukee home-base for 56 years. The Quartet's renowned violinists, Ralph Evans (prizewinner in the International Tchaikovsky Competition) and Efim Boico (former concertmaster of the Orchestre de Paris under Barenboim) have performed together for 35 years. They are joined with two eminent musicians: violist Gil Sharon (founder of the Amati Ensemble), and cellist Niklas Schmidt (co-founder of the Trio Fontenay).

Although their residency at the University of Wisconsin has ended, the future of the Quartet remains solid. The Quartet played 27 concerts the Americas and Europe in 2018. They have many engagements scheduled for 2019 into 2020.

After a successful community-sponsored Festival in Milwaukee in June 2018 and a concert on January 27, 2019, the Quartet will offer a Fine Arts Quartet Festival in July 2019. A week-long series of events includes concerts on July 14, 16 and 18, 2019. See www.FOFAQ.org for details. Your annual contribution is critical to continuing this series. To ensure sustainability, advance contributions determine the extent of concert offerings. The concert themselves will be free.
