Cause A

About Cause A:

The arts, in addition to offering a sense of inclusion and identity, can also bolster student grades. Nationwide, funding is diminishing within established institutions (i.e. schools) for the arts, creating a more difficult space for youth and other artists to grow. In rural communities such as Waupaca, arts programming outside of schools is very minimal.  When funding gets cut, there is no arts safety net!  Putting together a fund to help create new opportunities for youth turns focus on to safe and healthy alternatives to otherwise negative behaviors.  This is Cause A!

The vision for the use of funds within Cause A:  Future Arts Programming.

  • the vision is to develop after school arts programming for youth.

    • the arts have been shown to create a sense of identity and belonging, help in the prevention of depression, increase critical thinking skills, and many other studied aspects.

  • the focus will be based upon resources available

    • music teachers, artists who want to offer mini classes, writers, etc….

  • a location central to the rec center/downtown will be sought

    • there are already 2 locations possibly available for very low lease for this purpose

  • funds will help offset music lesson fees: a sliding scale approach will be utilized so that families with low resources can afford ongoing lessons, and music teachers are reimbursed

    • the vision includes group aspects similar to a rock and roll school setting

Arts Wisconsin is serving as fiscal receiver for the project.  Thank you for your support!
