Bridge the Divide is a forum for discussion and action around racial reconciliation. The group seeks to identify instances of inequality, foster empathy, and educate others to recognize their part in the problems and solutions in Ozaukee County…and beyond. Bridge the Divide helps create a safe place for the community to listen to differing perspectives, discuss current events, foster empathy, and emphasize that everyone deserves love and respect. Bridge the Divide’s community conversations and events strengthen a foundation to educate ourselves about racial injustices and actively diversify our world to effect change.
Bridge the Divide Scholars is a scholarship program established to help students of color in our community overcome economic challenges and successfully complete their university education. Wisconsin lags behind the rest of the country in educational opportunities for students of color. This scholarship was created to help reverse these trends. Scholarship money is awarded to students based on academic achievement, school and community involvement and need. Scholarship grants are used to purchase books, computers, meals, transportation, fees and other necessities. Scholarship committee members stay connected to
the students throughout their four-years of study.
