Question #2
My district has many wonderful cultural assets from the Mazo Movement Arts Center to galleries to performance spaces. I think we must recognize the importance of cultural institutions and spaces through tax advantages and exploring innovative ways that state and local governments can help them survive and grow. I think Madison's Northside is ripe for artistic development. I would like to see an arts district on the Northside as a partner to some of the economic development initiatives that are being planned. As someone with an arts background, and who has helped with arts administration, I see a significant role for political leaders in fostering that development while allowing it to grow organically.

Question #3
Yes!

Question #4
Arts are an extremely important part of education, not only because of the cognitive and social skills they help students develop, but because they help keep young people engaged in school and in their larger communities. The arts should be a significant component of public education, and that means we must preserve funding for the arts.

Question #5
Yes.
