Kristen Dexter
Question #1
Theater - Eau Claire Children's Theater; Chippewa Valley Theater Guild
Media Arts - I graduated as an Art Major, and am trained as a metalsmith. I have shown my work in the Eau Claire area, and I like to attend shows by other local artists. I've also participated in art classes at UWEC through their community education program.
Music - Sounds Like Summer, Phoenix Park; Clearwater Music Camp, UWEC; Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra;
Literary Arts - I worked for several years as a parent volunteer with Pedersen Elementary (Altoona) at the Young Author's Conference at UWEC
Dance - The Forum Artists Series
Other - Chalkfest, movies in the Alley and at Owen Park; various school performances; Taste of Eau Claire; Sawdust City Days; International Festival and many other festivals and art fairs; Farmers Markets, etc; Monday night music on campus UWEC, UWEC Film Series. My family and I love to attend community events as often as we are able.
Comments - From the day my husband and I moved to the Chippewa Valley, we realized there was far more to do here than we would EVER have the time to participate in.

Question #2
The Chippewa Valley is rich in well-established groups and organizations that have proven their ability to attract audiences, and we are equally lucky to have strong, new organizations that have sparked interest in the arts. We're fortunate to have this strong base to build upon, and I see enormous potential for the creative movement to continue to develop.

Question #3
Yes, keeping in mind our state's current financial situation.

Question #4
Without the arts our children are receiving an incomplete and unbalanced education. I believe they are vital and should be available to all children in schools and/or the community.

Question #5
Yes.
